APOPercentage™ APOPTOSIS Assay

Apoptosis Detection

APOPercentage FAQs

The APOPercentage™ Apoptosis Assay is a detection and MEASUREMENT system to monitor the incidence of apoptosis (programmed cell death) in mammalian, anchorage dependent cells during in vitro culture.

The following pictures are digital images of CHO cells exposed to cycloheximide (10mM) for 2, 4 and 6 hours.

CHO cells treated with Biocolor ApoPercentage Dye Reagent

Cycloheximide induces apoptosis thus enabling the cells to take up the APOPercentage dye.

Following dye uptake, the level of apoptosis can be quantified colorimetrically, fluorometrically or by analytical digital photomicroscopy (ADP*).

The level of apoptosis can be measured and expressed as a pixel number using GIMP (the GNU Image Manipulation Program) or Adobe Photoshop software.
